Record-Breaking Results

Through pioneering legal strategies and old-fashioned hard work, we have not only obtained multiple seven-figure settlements and jury awards-we have broken settlement records. For example:

  • A record-breaking $20 million settlement in a recent truck crash case resulting in a young woman being paralyzed from the waist down. The truck company persuasively demonstrated that its truck driver did not exceed the allowable driving time as mandated by federal trucking regulations, so we approached the case from a different angle. We showed that the truck driver's extensive night-time driving disrupted his natural sleeping patterns, leading to fatigue, and that he was likely asleep at the time of the collision. Our motion for punitive damages against the truck company for continuing to put the driver behind the wheel of their truck when they should have known he had a problem staying awake while driving forced the truck company to resolve the case.
  • A $30 million settlement for the victim of a catastrophic propane gas explosion. Our client survived but with third-degree burns covering 95% of his body. We showed that the gas company was at fault for failing to cap an open gas line that caused the explosion in violation of the gas company's own policies for new customers.
  • A $21 million jury verdict for a woman that suffered a brain injury during post-operative care following a routine operative procedure when a catheter disconnected, causing an air embolism to travel to her brain. We proved that the medical device manufacturer should have made available an inexpensive locking mechanism for the catheter, which would have prevented it from disconnecting during normal movement.
  • An $8 million medical malpractice jury verdict for the death of a 43 year old man who was experiencing a severe asthma attack. The ER personnel failed to recognize the severity of the attack and left the patient unattended, as a result of which he stopped breathing, went into cardiac arrest, and ultimately died (after living in a coma for over 4 years). We proved that the ER personnel carelessly failed to remain with and observe the patient at bedside despite the severity of his attack, and failed to intubate him, in violation of the nationally recognized standard of care for treatment of severe asthma exacerbations.
  • A $5 million settlement in an extremely difficult truck accident case resulting in severe brain injury to a 17 y.o. boy. The nationwide truck rental company bragged that it couldn't lose this case. We showed that the truck company negligently rented their truck to an unlicensed driver who had presented a fake license to them not just on this occasion but on multiple prior occasions, never checking the validity of the license, in violation of State law.
